i cannot import my picasa files into elements 7-corel-or my HDR dynamic and matix, Why?

i have dynamic-and matix..and elements 7, but none will allow me to use my 1,000 plus picasa photos , says not a photoshop file cannot be used. I evenhave corel and it does not let me imput my picasa photos to work on them. What am I missing. don
